The beginning of Understanding

A person’s actions are based on what they believe to be True and Reliable.  What we believe to be True and Reliable is the result of our ability to make sense of what we perceive and experience.  Without the ability to recognize Truth and Reliability we would not be able to understand the world in any meaningful or worthwhile way. Our mind would exist only as an instrument of confusion and without any sense of what is valuable.

Truth and Reliability bring the ability to understand what is valuable in this world and what is not.  This ability to understand our surroundings creates a belief system and causes our lives to be worth pursuing.  Over our lives, we accumulate a library of things which we believe to be Reliable (that is to say, True).

People are willing to take actions based on their understanding of what is Reliable, True.  These actions are called acts of Faith.  Faith comes by comprehension of what is Reliable and True, and Truth and Reliability come from God communicating with us.

In summation:
Faith comes by comprehension, and comprehension comes by the Word of God.

Without this interaction, life will at some point appear to be worth less to the person living it.  And as life loses it’s value, self gratification becomes the method of living.  Look across the world and you will be able to identify these communities, societies, regions and nations as they fall into chaos and confusion.

When Truth and Reliability are removed from the world, the world eventually deteriorates into the state that it was in prior to God speaking.

Gen 1:2-3
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

John 1:4
… and the life become the light of men.
